Protect Your Rubber Surface

Proper maintenance helps preserve the appearance, drainage, comfort, and long-term performance of your rubber surfacing.

Routine cleaning, proper drainage, careful pressure washing, and protection from chemicals, heavy furniture, and sharp objects can help keep the surface looking and performing its best.

Use the following care guidelines to help maintain your Pro Surfacing Services installation over time.

MAINTENANCE GUIDE

How to Care
for Your Rubber Surface

Follow these recommended maintenance practices to help preserve the appearance and performance of your rubber surfacing.

R

Routine Cleaning

Keep the surface clean and free of dirt, organic material, and contaminants.

Blow or sweep away leaves, grass clippings, sand, and loose debris regularly.

Rinse the surface with clean water as needed. For general cleaning, use a mild soap or neutral cleaner with a soft-bristle brush, then rinse thoroughly so cleaner does not remain on the surface.

Clean spills promptly. The longer a contaminant remains on the surface, the greater the chance of staining or deterioration.

R

Pressure Washing

Pressure washing may be used carefully, but aggressive cleaning can damage the rubber or binder.

Use a wide fan tip rather than a concentrated zero-degree stream. Keep the nozzle moving and maintain a safe distance from the surface.

Do not concentrate pressure on seams, edges, repairs, or already-loose areas.

Test an inconspicuous area first when using unfamiliar equipment.

R

Pool Chemicals & Chlorine

Do not mix, pour, store, or leave chlorine, acid, shock, or other pool chemicals directly on the surface.

Rinse accidental chemical spills immediately with plenty of clean water.

Maintain proper pool chemistry within the recommended range and avoid repeated splash-out of highly concentrated chemicals.

Do not allow chemical residue to dry repeatedly on the deck.

Excessive chemical exposure may contribute to fading, discoloration, binder deterioration, granule loss, loss of adhesion, or delamination.

R

Standing Water & Drainage

Rubber surfacing should not remain submerged or under prolonged standing water unless the system was specifically designed for that condition.

Keep drains, scuppers, and drainage paths clear.

Correct irrigation or runoff that repeatedly floods the same area.

Report persistent ponding or drainage changes before they create larger problems.

R

Furniture, Heavy Loads & Sharp Objects

Protect the surface from concentrated loads, dragging, cutting, and punctures.

Lift furniture instead of dragging it.

Use broad, non-staining furniture feet or protective pads when practical.

Do not place hot grills, fire pits, welding equipment, or other high-heat items directly on the rubber.

Avoid sharp tools, metal edges, kickstands, or equipment that can gouge or puncture the surface.

R

Stains, Oil & Contaminants

Address stains quickly and use the least aggressive cleaning method that works.

Blot or absorb oils and liquids instead of spreading them.

Use mild soap first; avoid strong solvents, fuel, harsh degreasers, and unknown chemicals.

Do not use bleach, acids, or solvent-based cleaners unless specifically approved for the installed system.

Rinse the area thoroughly after cleaning.

R

UV Care

Sun exposure naturally affects exterior rubber surfacing over time.

Preventative UV treatment can help maintain appearance and surface condition.

Inspect high-sun areas regularly for drying, fading, or surface wear.

Schedule professional UV treatment when recommended for your installed system.

R

Inspection & Repairs

Small issues are easier to address before traffic, water, or movement makes them larger.

Periodically inspect seams, edges, drains, transitions, and high-traffic areas.

Contact Pro Surfacing Services if you notice lifting, loose granules, tears, unusual soft spots, separation, or delamination.

Do not cut, patch, coat, glue, or modify a questionable area before it is inspected if a warranty claim may apply.

Report any warranty-related defects or damage within 7 days after first being noticed.
